Can you imagine tearing your hair out because your scalp itched so much?
I read pretty much all of the internet chatter about chlorine, hair, and skin. Today I came across a blog at “The UK’s Leading Hair Loss Clinic and Pharmacy,” the Belgravia Center. The article was “Chlorine Could Aggravate Hair Loss.” The tie between chlorine and hair loss caught my interest. Here’s what I learned:
Chlorine “can irritate the skin and lead to itchiness.” That itchiness makes “people start to scratch.” This itching can be “so severe as to cause hair loss as a result of scratching.” But don’t worry, “It’s unlikely that the itching would be so severe as to cause hair loss as a result of scratching.” It’s even a “bit misleading to say chlorine can cause hair loss...rather it will only aggravate the existing effects [of] hair loss.” (Emphasis added). Although unlikely, “it would not be unheard of.”
Are people really tearing the hair out of their heads because of chlorine itch? And people with hair loss problems are letting chlorine aggravate those problems? Why wouldn’t you buy a bottle of SwimSpray? www.SwimSpray.com.
